Getting three wickets in three consecutive deliveries is still a dream for many young bowlers these days , that too in International career.Getting three consecutive wickets in three consecutive balls is very rare in any format of the game.
There are many bowlers in the cricket history to make three in three,but there are very few players who made this twice and thrice in ODI's.
Making three in three is not an easy task,but these bowlers managed to do this twice and thrice.
Lets take a look into the bowlers with Most number of Hat-tricks in One Day Internationals.
1.Lasith Malinga (3 hat-tricks)
Separamadu Lasith Malinga is a Sri Lankan fast bowler,he is very well known for his unique style of bowling and also a best death bowler for Sri Lanka.Lasith Malinga also called as yorker kings for his fast yorkers in death overs.Lasith Malinga made his ODI debut on 17 July 2004 vs UAE.From then he took 338 wickets in his career.Lasith Malinga get his first hat-trick in 2007 World Cup against South Africa where he managed to get four in four deliveries.Second hat-trick was in 2011 World cup against Kenya.And the third hat-trick was also registered in the 2011 against Australia.He is the only bowler to have two World Cup hat-tricks.
2.Wasim Akmar (2 hat-tricks)
Wasim Akmar is a former Pakistan fast bowler,is very well known as a swing specialist.He is considered as one of the most successful fast bowler for Pakistan.Wasim Akmar made his ODI debut on 23 November 1984 vs New Zealand.He took 502 wickets in his career.Wasim Akmar got his first hat-trick in 1989 against West Indies in Sharjah.The second hat-trick was also in 1989 but this was against Australia.Co-incidentally he dismissed all the bowlers via bowled.
3.Kuldeep Yadav (2 hat-tricks)
Kuldeep Yadav is a young Indian left-arm unorthodox spinner.Kuldeep Yadav made his debut on 23 June vs West Indies.He is the only Indian bowler to have two hat-tricks in ODI's.Kuldeep Yadav got his first hat-trick in 2017 against Australia where he dismissed Mathew Wade,Aston Agar and Pat Cummins.The second hat-tricks was registered in 2019 against West Indies in Vishakapatnam where he dismissed Shai Hope,Jason Holder and Alzari Joseph.He is the youngest bowler to do so for India.
4.Trent Boult (2 hat-tricks)
Trent Boult is a left-arm fast bowler from New Zealand.Trent Boult made his ODI debut on 11 July 2012 vs West Indies.Trent Boult is one the best fast bowler from New Zealand.Trent Boult was a major spearhead for New Zealand in 2015 World cup.He is a leading wicket taker in 2015 world cup.Trent Boult got his first hat-trick in 2018 against Pakistan in Abu Dhabi where he damage the Pakistan's top order by dismissing Fakhar Zaman,Babar Azam and Mohammed Hafeez.And the second hat-trick was registered in 2019 World cup at 'home of cricket' Lord's against Australia where he dismissed Usman Khawaja,Mitchell Starc and Jason Behrendorff.And also became 10th bowler to take World cup hat-trick.He is the first bowler for New Zealand to have a World cup hat-trick.
5.Saqlain Mushtaq (2 hat-tricks)
Saqlain Mushtaq is a former Pakistani batting all-rounder.Saqlain Mushtaq made his debut on 29 September 1995 vs Sri Lanka.Although being a part time bowler he managed to get two hat-tricks on his name including a World Cup hat-trick.Saqlain Mushtag got his first hat-trick in 1996 against Zimbabwe in Peshawar.And the second hat-trick was registered in 1999 World Cup,this was also against Zimbabwe.He made his name in the list of bowlers to have world cup hat-tricks for Pakistan.He also the fastest bowler to reach the milestone of 200 and 250 wickets in One Day Internationals.
